Dusty launched her floral business in 2023 with no budget. She calls it a “zero money startup.” In less than two years, she completed over 80 weddings. Her main tool? Instagram.
With no marketing budget and no brand visibility, social media became her lifeline. Her story resonates with wedding professionals who rely on free platforms to grow.
Attracting the Right Clients
At first, Dusty created content for DIY brides. She shared tips and tricks for couples who wanted to arrange their own flowers. The problem? Those followers never became clients.
A mentor pointed out the issue, and Dusty quickly shifted her focus. Instead of chasing likes and shares, she began posting only for the clients she wanted to book.
The Power of Content Pillars
To stay consistent, Dusty created five content pillars. These include showcasing bold and bright floral designs, educating couples on how to maximize their budgets, and sharing wedding recaps.
This structure keeps her content on-brand and focused. For vendors with multiple services, she suggests making each service its own pillar. She recommends focusing on one each week to avoid confusing clients.
Why Consistency Matters
Social media rewards regular posting. Dusty shared that after just three days off, her reach dropped from 60,000 to 29,000.
Her advice is to post at least four times a week. The best time is early mornings, between 8:00–8:45 AM, when people scroll before work. Weekends, she says, usually bring lower engagement.
Strategic Engagement with Vendors
Posting isn’t enough. Engagement matters, too. Dusty regularly comments on posts from venues she hopes to work with. This helps her get noticed by couples researching those venues.
She also follows and interacts with potential clients who follow her. This builds trust before they ever reach out.
Collaboration = Bigger Reach
Collaborative posts are one of her favorite tools. When Dusty tags venues in reels and invites them to collaborate, her views can jump from 2,000 to over 40,000. The best part is that it costs nothing.
A Roadmap for Wedding Vendors
Dusty’s success comes down to a few clear steps. Know your ideal client. Create content that speaks directly to them. Post consistently so your brand stays visible. Engage with vendors and venues to expand your reach. And collaborate whenever possible to maximize exposure.
Above all, let clients see your personality and process. This is what builds trust and connection.
Social Media is the New Search Engine
Today’s couples, especially Millennials and Gen Z, spend 6–8 hours a week researching vendors on social media. They aren’t turning to Google first.
Wedding pros who use intentional strategies won’t just grow followers. They’ll book the right clients who value their style and services.
